For me, raffia always brings back memories of back home. It is a staple in fashion and interior decor which comes and goes. I remember one of the reasons I loved Adam’s Apples so much, apart from the great fashion styling, was the interior decor of the Adam’s home and you guessed it, they used raffia. Raffia actually comes from palm trees and it is synonymous with tropical weather. Sometimes it is interchanged with straw, wicker or rattan but the esthetic is the same. Here are some finds to incorporate in your wardrobe and home.
Raffia espadrilles from Zara
Raffia bucket bag also from Zara
Kate Spade Cameron Street Straw Handbag
JJs House Rafia Straw Hat
Safavieh Natural Wicker Chairs
For some decor inspiration check out the pic below of the Sandibe Safari Lodge in Botswana. How beautiful is this?
For families with young children, incorporating wicker into storage areas in living spaces can be both practical and modern. Check this out below. I love the storage bins and the ottoman in the center.
Go forth and give it a try, even if it’s just one piece in your home or wardrobe, it’s hard to mess it up. Make it your own, depending on your individual style you can mix in colors or stick with neutrals. How great will some ankara decor pillows look in that sitting area above? Be creative and style your life in a way that inspires.
